ABOUT THE COMPANY – BMW

BMW (Bavarian Motor Works in English or Bayerische Motoren Werke in German) are a luxury vehicle and motorcycle German company, founded in Munich, Germany in the year 1916. The company produces motorcycles, automobiles as well as aircraft engines (up until 1945), in Germany; South Africa; the United States; the United Kingdom; China; Brazil and India.

The companies products are sold globally – the BMW brand sells automobiles, the BMW M sub-brand sells performance model automobiles, the BMW i brand sells plug-in electric automobiles, the BMW Motorrad which sells motorcycles, the company also owns the brands Rolls-Royce and Mini.
ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED, COVERAGE VALUE & OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

The BMW SpeedUp bursary will be awarded to students with strong academic records, specifically within the following fields of study:

  • Industrial Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

The following expenses will be covered by the BMW SpeedUp bursary programme: registration fees, tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, examination fees and accommodation.
Students will also receive paid vocational working experience, as well as individual projects and assignments and a chance to engage with BMW associates. Students may also be given the opportunity to take part in the BMW SA Graduate Programme.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted – if you do not receive feedback within 30 days of the application deadline, unforunately your application has not been successful.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying full time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Studying within your second to final year of study (ie. have completed your first year)
  • Studying at a recognised University in South Africa
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 70%
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills
