ABOUT THE COMPANY – CETA

The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA), formed in the year 2000, is aimed at positively influencing training and skills development within the construction industry. They are responsible for initiating skills projects and learnerships to develop and improve the human resources within the country, as well as the construction workforce.

Accredited as an Education and Training Quality Assurance (ETQA), the CETA’s mission is to develop a strong base of skills as the foundation for economic empowerment and infrastructural development. The construction industry is made up of 4 sub-sectors, including: Materials Manufacturing; Built Environment Professions; Building Construction and Roads and Civil Construction.
ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED, COVERAGE VALUE & SERVICE CONTRACT

The CETA bursary aims to support undergraduate tertiary students pursuing their studies within the Construction sector, particularly those studying within the following fields of study:

University students (Degree qualifications):

  • Bachelor of Building Arts (BBArts)
  • Construction Studies (BSc)
  • Construction Management (BSc)
  • Contruction Economics (BSc)
  • Land Surverying (BSc)
  • Quantity Surveying (BSc)
  • Civil Engineering (BSc)
  • Architecture (BSc)

University of Technology students (National Diploma/ Btech Degree qualifications):

  • Building (National Diploma)
  • Land Surveying (National Diploma)
  • Quantity Surveying (National Diploma)
  • Civil Engineering (National Diploma)
  • Town and Regional Planning (National Diploma)
  • Architecture (National Diploma)
  • Bachelor of Technician (BTech)

 

The following expenses will be covered by the bursary scheme: tuition, as well as prescribed books and other study materials to an annual value of R3 500. Accommodation costs may be covered depending on the students circumstances.

Once graduated, students will be required to work in a South African based construction company, for a duration equal to that of their bursary award.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 60% in Matric
  • Achieved a minimum of 60% for Mathematics and Science in Matric
  • Proven financial need (would not be able to afford to study without financial assistance)
  • Studying full time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Registered to study or eligible to register at a recognised University or Universities of Technology in South Africa
  • Passed the current year of study
  • Have NOT failed more than 2 subjects
  • NOT currently in receipt of any other bursary funding
  • *Preference will be given to students from designated groups

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • Colour photo (passport size),
  • ID document (certified copy),
  • Proof of registration (certified copy),
  • Proof of acceptance (certified copy),
  • Proof of residence (certified copy),
  • Banking details (stamped bank letter/ bank statement only),
  • Proof of address (municipal account/ bank statement),
  • Disabled students must include an original medical certificate (on a CETA template).
