English Literature
OVERVIEW
English literature incorporates all works written in the English language. Material will include a wide range of novels, poetry and drama. A student will be trained on critical reasoning, persuasion and adaptability in reading and writing in the English language.
SPECIALISATION
Creative Writing
Creative writing teaches students to analyse and read literature in the form of poetry, plays, or short stories to mention a few. Students are exposed to creative tasks together with analytical reports of their own work in relation to what they’ve read or researched.
Linguistics
Linguistics explores the way language works and its origins, within a more scientific framework than that commonly used in an English language and literature degree.
Postcolonial Literature
Postcolonial Literature exposes students to issues of relevance to postcolonial writing such as identity and gender, diaspora, and the various debates surround postcolonial discourse in academia.
