OVERVIEW
Mathematics, which is also referred to as Applied Mathematics, focuses on theoretical problem solving and reasoning. Mathematics exposes students to scientific fields such as Engineering, Actuarial Science, Medical Sciences among others, that require requiring maths like engineering.
SPECIALISATION
Complex analysis
Complex Analysis focuses on investigating the functions of complex numbers which can be expressed in a form which allows for the combination of real and imaginary numbers. Complex analysis is useful in many branches of mathematics, including algebraic geometry, number theory and applied mathematics, so it is an essential starting point for the further study of mathematics.
Discrete mathematics
Discrete mathematics exposes students to mathematical structures that are fundamentally discrete rather than continuous. Discrete mathematics usually involves examining the interrelations between probability and combinatorics.
Mechanics
Mechanics focuses on forces that act on bodies and any resultant motion that they experience. This program exposes students to quantum mechanics and relativity, covering topics such as electromagnetism, the Schrdinger equation, the Dirac to mention a few
Measure theory
Measure theory focused on the application of mathematics in areas such as such as geometry, probability theory, dynamical systems and functional analysis.
Fractal geometry
Fractal geometry focuses on the mathematical theory behind fractals. Fractals are geometric forms that display self-similar patterns on all scales of magnification, making them look the same when seen from near as from far.
Fluid dynamics
Fluid dynamics focuses on the application of mathematics topics such as ordinary and partial differential equations, basic mechanics and multivariable calculus to mention a few.
