The study of pharmacy forms the cornerstone of healthcare as it focuses on roles in the design and development of new treatments and medication, prescription and care management as well as recommendations on medical treatments available for various conditions.

 

SPECIALISATION

Pharmacology
Pharmacology seeks to examine drugs and they’re effect on the body. In this field, you will learn to develop new chemical substances and examine the effects of established medicinal compounds, together with the beneficial and harmful effects of drugs.
Microbiology
Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms. Furthermore, it focuses on topics such as virology (the study of viruses), bacteriology (the study of bacteria) and mycology (the study of fungi). Microbiology is often taught alongside immunology – the study of the immune system.
Drug development
Drug development exposes students to the processes involved in creating new drugs. This may include learning how to conduct pre-clinical research and clinical trials as well as learning about relevant manufacturing processes, regulatory issues and assessing financial viability.
