Physical Sciences

OVERVIEW

Physics is the study of the interaction of matter and energy. A physicist’s work mostly entails study and research to analyse and understand the natural phenomena of the universe. The wide concepts studied in physics have led to brilliant discoveries in medicine, engineering and sustainable energy.

SPECIALISATION

Acoustics
Acoustics explores  mechanical waves in gases, liquids, and solids. It also studies applications for seismic waves, shock and vibration, noise, music, communication, hearing, underwater sound, and atmospheric sound alongside earth sciences, life sciences, engineering, and the arts.
Astronomy
Astronomy studies space alongside planets, stars, galaxies, deep space, and the universe. In this field, you will explore how to use mathematics, physics, and chemistry to understand everything outside of the Earth’s atmosphere
Astrophysics
Astrophysics explores the physical properties of objects in space.
Atomic Physics
Atomic Physics exposes students to the study of atoms more so in the electron properties of the atom
Biophysics
Biophysics seeks to explore  physics in living systems at all levels, from individual cells and microbes to animals, plants, and entire ecosystems.
Chemical Physics
Chemical Physics explores physics in chemical systems. It examines how physics can be used to understand complex phenomena at a variety of scales from the molecule to a biological system.
Computational Physics
Computational Physics focuses on the use of  numerical methods to solve physical problems for which a quantitative theory already exists.
