Fibre Processing And Manufacturing Sector Education And Training Authority (FP&M SETA)

🌍 About The Organization

The Fibre Processing And Manufacturing Sector Education and Training Authority (FP&M SETA) is a South African organisation set up by the government to help young people learn skills needed in the fibre, processing, and manufacturing industries. These industries include things like clothing, footwear, forestry, furniture, leather, packaging, printing, paper, and textiles — basically many of the products we use every day. FP&M SETA helps students and workers improve their skills so they can get good jobs and help grow South Africa’s economy.

🎓 About The Bursary Programme

The FP&M SETA bursary programme gives money to students so they can study at universities or TVET colleges in areas that support the fibre processing and manufacturing sector.
What the bursary covers:
✔ Tuition fees (fees you pay to the college or university)
✔ Books and study materials
✔ Accommodation (if you stay away from home)
✔ Meals and transport (depending on the programme)
✔ Up to about R70 000 per academic year (this varies and depends on your study and needs)

This money helps you focus on your studies without worrying about costs. The bursary usually funds you for one academic year at a time and may be renewed each year based on your results.

Eligibility Requirements – Who Qualifies For Funding

You can apply for the FP&M SETA bursary if you:
✔ Are a South African citizen
✔ Have completed Matric (Grade 12) or are already studying towards a relevant qualification
✔ Are accepted into or currently studying at a public university or TVET college
✔ Are studying in fields related to the FP&M SETA sector (like clothing/textiles, printing, packaging, furniture making, forestry, leather goods, etc.)
✔ Show financial need (they may look at your household income)
FP&M SETA bursaries are often aimed at the “missing middle”— students who don’t qualify for government support like NSFAS but still need financial help.

Who is Disqualified (Who Should Not Apply)

You should not apply if:
• You are not a South African citizen
• You are not accepted to study at a recognised institution
• Your course isn’t related to fibre processing and manufacturing sectors
• You already have full funding (another bursary) covering all your study costs
• You do not meet the academic or financial requirements
