The FirstRand Empowerment Foundation (FREF) is part of the FirstRand Foundation, focused on uplifting underprivileged South Africans through education and empowerment.
About The Bursary Programme (What Does The Bursary Cover? )
FREF covers full tuition, accommodation, textbooks, meals, a monthly stipend, and academic support for undergraduate students.
Eligibility Requirements – Who Qualifies For Funding?
South African citizens
Black students (African, Coloured, Indian)
Financially needy and academically strong
Currently in Grade 12 or first-year university students
Studying full-time at a public university
Disqualified From Applying – Who Should Not Apply?
Non-South African citizens
Students not classified as Black (per B-BBEE definition)
Students studying part-time or at private institutions
