About the Organization

Zeerust Solar is a renewable energy company that operates a large solar power plant in Zeerust, North West Province. The organization is committed to creating clean, sustainable electricity while supporting the development of nearby communities. Through its community development programmes, Zeerust Solar invests in education, youth empowerment, and skills development. The Scholarship Bursary is part of their mission to help high school learners and young adults access higher education and build brighter futures.

About the Bursary Programme (What Does the Bursary Cover?)

As part of the Zeerust Solar’ Socio-Economic Development initiatives, Zeerust Solar will be awarding scholarship to successful applicants who will pass their Grade 12 in 2025 and who qualify to study an undergraduate qualification at a recognised University or TVET College. Applicants who passed Grade 12 in the previous years and who are currently planning or studying at a recognised tertiary institution will also be considered. Applicants must live within the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality. The scholarship covers:

  • Tuition fees
  • Registration fees
  • Prescribed study materials
  • Accommodation (for students studying far from home)
  • A monthly stipend (for qualifying students)

 

Eligibility Requirements – Who Qualifies for Funding?

  • The applicants must be South African citizens with a valid South African ID book or card.
  • The applicants must have outstanding academic achievements.
  • The applicants must be financially constrained from being able to study at a tertiary institution.
  • Preference will be given to applicants whose intended field of study includes the following: Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Commerce, Development Studies and qualifications that are classified as scare skills.
  • Applicants who come from households where parents/guardians earn less than, or up to a maximum of R700 000 combined.
  • The applicants must be registered for full-time studies towards an academic certificate / diploma / degree at an accredited institution registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training

 

Required Supporting Documents:

  • Certified ID copy of applicant
  • Proof of residence for the applicant issued by the Ward Councilor or Traditional Council
  • Proof of postal address
  • Most recent academic results / transcript of the applicant
  • Letter of acceptance / conditional acceptance from a registered tertiary institution
  • Curriculum vitae of the applicant
  • The letter of motivation why you should be considered
  • Reference letter from school
  • Certified copies of both parents’ / guardian’s:
    • Pay slips for last three months or
    • Proof of income for last six months with bank statement of last six months or
    • Affidavit with bank statement of last six month
  • ID copies of both parents / guardians
  • ID or birth certificate copies of dependants with household
  • Proof of schooling or studying for dependants within the household

 

How to Apply for the Bursary

1. Download the application form and follow these steps:

  • Use block letters to complete the form
  • Provide concise answers and, where applicable mark with an X
  •  Please answer all the sections (Incomplete or late applications will not be considered)
  • All certified documents must not be older than three months.
  • If applicant is under 18 years of age, the application must be signed by parent or guardian.
